U.S vs China: 115

I was reading an article on cheat code central

http://www.cheatcc.com/extra/theopenendednatureofblackops2.html

and I ran across this quote:

(in regards to the reveal trailer for BOII)

In the trailer, an aged Frank Wood theorizes that people like him, soldiers who are willing to fight and die for their country, will always be necessary because, even with the best in automated defenses, all it takes is for the enemy to gain control of those same things that are supposed to protect people to turn them into lethal weapons. His warning is accompanied by flashes of action that show unmanned drones running amok, bombing cities, destroying a civilian chopper over the highway. Further details from the Treyarch demonstration reveal that the man who has infiltrated the United States' automated defense network is Raul Menendez, who aims to bring existing tensions between the U.S. and China (over the rare earth elements used in manufacturing advanced technology) to a boiling point. His motivations for this quest will be explored in the 1980s missions, particularly those set fighting proxy wars in Central America.

A rare Earth element, you say, and it's (theoretically) in China.

Well, that sounds like....

Could the story mode be hinting at our zombie campaign?

The rare earth elements are a set of elements in the periodic table ranging from atomic number of 21 to 71. They are NOT elements that are simply rare. It's a classification. Element 115 isn't in any classification.

"In the future world of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, global superpowers compete for scarce Rare Earth Elements, which are actually being used today to make consumer electronics like smartphones and tablets. What RAE-rich devices do you own that you could not live without?"

From the CoD Facebook page back in May.

Promethium sounds pretty cool. Nuclear batteries FTW, some one should tell Ironman.

China is currently buying lots and lots of Gold & silver, both of these elements will be in high demand in the electronics industry.

Then again it could all be about GOD. By that I mean Gold, Oil & Drugs.

Regards Alpha.
