This might be classed as a spoiler, because

you only see this ending if you shoot him in the body and not the head, people may not have seen this ending

But I agree.

Black ops 3???

The adventures of Mason and Reznov. You could have Weaver in there too.

Would that not canonize an ending, though? I would LOVE to have a game like that, but it would cause problems with the multiple endings in BO2.

Use the Mortal Kombat series as an example. Each game of theirs has many, many alternative endings. When the next game comes out, you find which one(s) actually happened, which was canonical.

Treyarch has no choice but to either do that or just ignore all story reference to BOII that can differ completely.

Easy, set it prior to the events of black ops 2. Ending when Reznov and Mason make contact in Afghanistan. Or you have it start there and show Reznov retrieving Mason's "Body" from the warehouse in later mission.

Either way there's a lot left to explore with Mason and Reznov.

And what happened to Weaver, Hudson and Mason being hunted by the CIA/SAS. Or hell the Kennedy Assassination for that matter.

Or they could have a different campaign based on the save data of Blops II on each console. Of course, it would take a lot more time to make slightly different campaigns for each ending.

I can't see that happening, though, with the next generation of consoles. Right now, there aren't any ways of transferring saves between the current and next gens, so people who choose to play Treyarch's next game on an Xbox One or PS4 wouldn't be able to do something as important as this.
