Who saved Alex Mason?

In the third mission when mason, Hudson, woods, and the other guy were dumped into the desert. Who helped save them? In masons mind it was REZNOV but he isn't real. First time posting here so please be gentle with me

a) a random guy who came across them, or...

it actually WAS Reznov.

Lenne is correct. Mason is known to basically be schizophrenic. Reznov is a personality of his. In his mind, Reznov does certain deeds to help him, but in reality Mason is performing the actions of himself and Reznov. However, the game strongly hints Reznov is still alive, however it does so ONLY in Mason's perspective, which biases it. I think it is an interesting mechanic, because Mason believes Reznov is real, and the game makes you think he might be too, even if you know he's not.
