Richtofen EE / Trample Steaming Zombies

I think I know what the answer will be here, but thought I'd ask anyway.

When you get to the Trample Steam part of the EE, has anyone tested whether or not you need 4 trample steams or can you do it with less?

Me and a couple others were doing the EE last night and the 4th player d/c'd after we sniped the balls from the dragons mouths. We carried on, in the hope that someone would join the game from all the invites I sent out (was playing a custom game) but no one joined. Although we didn't get to try it, we just wondered whether or not we could have gone on to the trample steaming of Zombies with only 3 of us.

I was stuck on that particular part for nearly the same reason a few times. It 'seemed' we could not sling enough zombies to move on with only three trample steams. I do believe four are required.
