Alcatraz- So many ways the story can go!

Alcatraz is the new theme for the upcoming zombies map "Mob of the Dead".

I am very fond of mystery/thriller programs and there was one aired in the UK a while back, suitably named 'Alcatraz', this looked at prisoners from Alcatraz coming back to the present day! It was great while it lasted although I believe it was discontinued because of ratings, unfortunately it ended on a cliff-hanger so I will never know the ending  ;)

If you don't know Alcatraz was a prison for the worst and most difficult prisoners of America at the time. Prisoners such as "Al Capone" and "Robert Stroud"/The birdman of Alcatraz (who had raised nearly 300 birds in his cell) are some of the most known prisoners of Alcatraz.

The reason I made reference to the TV show 'Alcatraz' is because of the ways the Treyarch can actually go with the whole Alcatraz theme. This map is supposedly 'terrifying' so we could have many of these difficult figures coming back (ghosts have been rumoured to walk the around Alcatraz, once known as 'Evil Island').

It was known that once prisoners went into Alcatraz, they would never get out again. The prison was inescapable, there were many known escape attempts, none were done successfully, people that tried were either killed, drowned, put back into cells or unknown. This can also play a factor into terrifying and scary/grizzly things there. Alcatraz closed in 1963 due to it being expensive, the prisoners were escorted out to another prison.

The TV show that I mentioned above looked at the theme of the prisoners NOT being escorted out of Alcatraz, them coming back into reality now. The TV show also said that experiments were used in there for them to create a superhuman- what does that remind you of? Bear in mind though this was from a TV show and is said to never happen. Although some information that you can read about tortures that they did do to the inmates that misbehaved could be quite gruelling.

With all of this in mind, where do you think Treyarch will go with all of this information? The big prison, no-one escaped, tortures, the TV show looked at experiments being carried out (although it was never said to be done in reality).

EDIT- Another thing I would like to point out is the whole "Call of the Dead" and "Mob of the Dead" thing that I don't think anyone has noticed yet, the O4 were in "Call of the Dead", TBH I wouldn't be surprised if they were in "Mob of the Dead". With this in mind too, what if you had them wondering around the area! That would be pretty cool (although this isn't too relevant to the point of my thread I thought I'd point it out).

Sorry for writing so much, these are pretty much my first impressions and thoughts about the story for this map. Really looking forward to seeing what Treyarch has up their sleeves for this one. Hopefully it will be great!

I'm surprised no one else noticed.

Note that the second DLC map of Black Ops 1 had cutscenes and celebrity characters.

I KNEW that Treyarch was going to continue this trend. The question is....how closely are they going to follow it? I'm suspecting that it will be similar to the Call of the Dead Easter egg in some way. Obviously, not EXACTLY the same. That would be.....anti-climactic.

I don't think we would come across the O4 during this time period, since we're about a decade or two behind World at War. Will it follow closely to Call of the Dead's Easter Egg in the sense that we are discovering a bit more of how things have come to where they are now, and perhaps uncover some secrets that will make the Black Ops II Zombies storyline more sensible? Possibly.

But I never knew about the Alcatraz program...interesting! Perhaps there was indeed some experimentation with the inmates going on. Some experimentation that becomes disastrous because of some 115? I smell something fishy abrewin'. ;)
