Time bomb glitch?

So i was playing Buried in my friend´s house in splitscreen, i throwed down a time bomb before going to the mansion and when we entered my friend died and a witch was in front of me so i activated the time bomb. That rewarded us the achievement that requires "Rewrite history" (cant remember name right now) but we got stuck in the distortion animation from the time bomb for about 10 minutes and then we ended the game.

Is this a glitch or its meant to happen?
