Random turning knobs

Im finding these boards that look like the power switches from previous zombies maps but they dont have any levers and instead have a knob that you can twist when you hold X then the character quotes something like "this doesnt seem right" Explanation please? :?:

Im guessing you're PS3 or PC?

Those knobs are used for the second lightning staff challenge, don't worry about them until you've done the first challenge...
