Hi. I am a huge fan of extinction mode. I enjoy playing this with friends and or randoms. Currently I am 1 rank away from 4th prestige and I have beaten the game with 3 relics at a time with randoms.

I highly recommend going for a grenade turret to take down the first 2 barrier hives in under a minute.

Other setup includes: Medic, Pistol, Armor piercing ammo, Random supplies or Armor, Vulture, Grenade turret.

I have 3 relics currently active.

Pistols only.

Inflict less damage to aliens.

Take more damage.

I plan on doing the smaller wallet for my 4th relic.

Strategy: Armor is the most important thing. After that I'd say Medics are because of unlimited sprint and health regeneration. As soon as you earn some skill points I buff up that grenade turret right away to get extra grenades and more fire power and burning rockets. Trust me this is the fastest way to beat the game. If you think you are gonna get overwhelmed Activate that vulture to watch your six while you are busy taking down that second hive. Points should not matter. If you don't have this unlocked a regular sentry would also suffice.

Hope this helps. AGAIN armor is the single most important thing in this game and I recommend at least 2 people running this and buffing it as early as possible as it only requires 4 skill points.

Enjoy and leave some feedback.

Update 2: 11/15/2013

Here is the ultimate class for extinction mode.

Medic1 | Armor piercing ammo | Random supply | Auto Sentry | Grenade Turret

Medic2 | Explosive ammo | Armor | Auto Sentry | Grenade Turret

Medic3 | Explosive ammo | Ferell-instinct| Auto Sentry | Grenade Turret

weapon sp| Explosive ammo | Armor | Vulture | M27 Grenade launcher

This is the order the skill points should be spent for maximum efficiency.

Medic 1:

Primary Supplier: Level 3 Grenade Turret

*Secondary: Level 4 Random supplies

Medic 2:

*Primary Supplier: Armor

Secondary: Explosive ammo

Medic 3:

Primary Supplier: Vulture

Secondary: Grenade turret

Weapon Specialist:

Primary Supplier: Explosive Ammo

Secondary: Armor

*Only 4 skill points needed for Max upgrade i.e. Level 4.

Don't be a Tank. Armor is cheap. Having 3 Medics in the team gives very fast movement and unlimited distance health regenration on the fly.

That's a life saver.

Ammo should only be shared by those who spent their SP buffing ammo in out case our weapon specialist.

We need two people with Upgraded Grenade turret to take down Hive #2 easily.Once the greande turret is Level 3 it has double the ammo (about 25)

Other two should be busy setting sentries and traps and must guard grenade turret players and throw armor as needed.

*Vulture is solely to take down rhinos as it has armor piercing ammo upgrade at level 3. It is also nice to have when you are reviving teammates or repairing the drill or simply escaping death.

Sentries are also good upgraded because you can set 2 instead of one.

M27 grenade launcher can be used at oh-shit situations like covering teammates when fixing the drill where heavy fire power is needed at a given point.

When you are spare on points upgrade your medic abilities to Level 3 to avoid scorpion's annoying gas.

Then you can move on to sentry upgrades/Ferell instincts.

Ferell instincts not very essential but good to have.

You can freely use up to three relics while using this strategy.

Thanks to Choppernator for sharing sentry gun strategy and DBZ for overall getting us into this game mode.

Nice thread mate.

The best strategy however is more simple.

2 armour's, 2 ammos, 4 riot shields, 4 (8) sentries. You can't lose.

Even with 4 relics on every player.

Im on my phone for a day or 2, I'll post some more detailed stuff later :)

Yes 4 automatic sentries are beast and you get loaded on points. Unfortunately not everyone likes to keep it that way. But it's a nice setup to run with friends. Yes more tips appreciated Chopper.

Yeah I hear you mate.

The second time I completed it 4 player was with hoardkillrepeat funnily enough and we ran all 4 classes. Average level was about 15 no prestige, high of 22 and low of 9. We failed 6 times on the 2nd chopper and created a good strategy for 'under perked' teams. Was lots of fun.

Unfortunately it is the case that as long as 1 person has prestiged and one other has armour the game is beat. Sentries need nerfing for sure.

I've unloaded some clips into the hive, but I haven't tried running the grenade turret solid tip. Im almost on to my 2nd prestige, pistols only is a cake walk. Is there an achievement for running with all relics?

Posted

@chopper 4 different classes :lol:

I am bit afraid of using a "Mortal" relic because of how badly I'm used to my "Medic Class".

Anyways, I used grenade turret for the first time last night and was totally surprised that you can beat the first Barrier Hive "Helicopter round" in like 45 seconds. It's too good to be true. Set the fire trap and automatic sentries to guard you and it's over before you know it.

I mean it's a good setup if you are running around with unpredictable randoms. At First, they said " What is this idiot doing", then after a minute they thanked me. We however died because the person with buffed armor left after planting the bomb and the rhinos raped us on our way to chopper. Lesson learned that you cannot trust people with armors. They never throw is at right time.

I'm not sure boom. Its been done coop by a few teams, but not solo. Solo with 5 is pretty much impossible.

You can either do mortal or wallet but both is just not doable, although I'm liable to be proved wrong eventually :)

I know we get patches and backgrounds. I don't if there is an achievement. Boom, we need to play tonight and level up.

If there's room, count me in. I've been wanting to play with some actual good players for quite some time.

Definitely, lets do a lil playdate tonight. Hopefully Grill or someone else joins us.

Yeah, let's hope so. I still haven't prestiged, mind you. I'm only Rank 22 or so, so be wary.

No worries. You could be our armor supplier.

I'll be on tonight for sure. We need to get a win for Werf!

Hahaha, yes, this please! Two times I've made it to the final hive. Two times the team has failed.

haven't really played too much. im a level 10 maybe? not many of my friends buy the IW cod game since it has coincided with BF3 and BF4 basically. certainly no zombies, but its a vast improvement over only having survival

This is my opinion on how to have an optimized team and what classes should be doing what. It is a strategy of many, but a strategy I have found extremely effective for myself and my team.

This game mode is designed for each class to play a crucial role in the team. Escaping is largely dependent on all players communicating and coordinating what skill or item is being leveled up when. Everybody will be supporting one another with different things. You all kind of play off of eachother in a way. I'm going to mention what the main role each class should be playing.

The first thing is, no matter what class you are, max it out before anything else. You will benefit the most by doing so. After your class, coordinate who will be doing armor, ammo, and any other support such as sentry guns. You want to make sure you have one of everything leveled up right around the time you are entering or had just entered the cabin area. (One person lvl armor, one lvl ammo, one lvl special ammo etc.)

Overall what you need is:

-Ammo Type-

1 person with regular ammo (Medic, Tank)

1-2 people with explosive ammo (Engineer, Tank, Medic)

1-2 people with armor piercing ammo (Specialist, Tank, Medic)

Its good to have a reserve of stock ammo just in case and it helps in early rounds. Explosive ammo is generally the best due to increased damage and a small blast radius, which is great for crowd control. And armor peircing is the most effective against hunters and rhinos. Just make sure only one person is leveling each type. If two people have the same type, you can each throw down and stack off of eachothers to conserve money.

-Team Support-

1 person with armor (Specialist, Tank)

1 person with feral instincts (Medic)

1 person with team explosives (Engineer)

1 person with any other (Specialist, Tank)

You need the armor for obvious reasons, feral instincts for a faster escape most importantly and to see enemy positions easier, and team explosives to aid in battle and to help destroy barrier hives much faster. The last two people really have free reign. Whatever you and your team feel will be the most beneficiary.

-Strike Package-

Strike packages can really be anything. But by far the most effective are the sentry guns. All four players with sentry guns will dramatically make things run smoother. Also, certain strike packages are stronger with certain classes. Engineers do more explosive damage and weapon specialist do more bullet damage. So choose accordingly.

-Equalizer-

Same as noted in strike packages. Certain equalizers are stronger depending on what class you are. But for a default choice, i would recommend the riot shield. You can just leave it on your back and it will absorb any damage taken from behind.

Main Objective of Each Class

-Weapon Specialist-

Scorpions in particular. Being the one that does the most damage, the best thing you can do for you and your team is focus on incoming scorpions and take them out quickly. You will be preserving the life of your team tremendously and when at barrier hives, not allowing the scorpions to attack the support chopper will destroy the barrier much, much faster.

Things the weapon specialist benefits from in particular: Any bullet weapon including the death machine, armor peircing ammo for stronger enemies.

-Tank-

The tanks main job should be to take the fight to the enemy and act as a decoy for your team. You can group up enemies by charging them and have you team support you from behind. And you can also use your extra health to your advantage by running enemies through traps your engineer has activated.

Things the tank benefits from in particular: armor on top of your extra health, a riot shield to charge your enemies with a vulture to cover your six when charging enemy groups.

-Engineer-

The engineers job is to activate traps and repair the drill when necessary. One of the best things you can do with any class, but especially the engineer, is to set your sentry guns in or on electrical traps. Enemies are attracted to sentry guns just like any other player. So by placing your sentry in a trap, you are luring them to their death without having to babysit your trap and worry about it being pounced on and taken out.

Things the engineer benefits from in particular: any explosive such as lethal grenades, explosive strike packages and equalizers, explosive ammo, propane tanks and soflams.

-Medic-

The medics job is to revive those who go down and to assist the weapon specialist in taking out scorpions since medics are immune to the poisonous gas. Also, if gathering propane tanks for barrier hives is a strategy you use, the medic is a fast runner so take 2-3 people to form an assembly line and have the medic make the longer, initial runs to the tanks to make it go faster when gathering. It cuts down the time by a decent amount.

Things the medic benefits from in particular: scorpion gas immunity and feral instincts, it will boost your movement speed even more.

Please keep in mind this is just my opinion of a general format you should use, not a definitive "this is THE strategy". It has proven to be the most efficient way to play with four people of various skill levels for me and my crew. I just wanted to put something out there that may help some people advance further. If there are any questions feel free to ask here. If you would like more of an in-depth walkthrough or you just need a good player on your team to play with, message me on xbl. GT DueceCostello. Duece mother f***ing Costello. Dude, you helped me do the Easter Egg on ORIGINS. I think you're buddies with "ImTomCruisingIt". Regardless man, awesome to see you CoDZ. and great tips on Extinction!

We will have to jam a game soon.

and as for me and my prestige on extinction? I literally just reached my first relic.

Nice thread Way, awesome advice - though it's not quite the same as experiencing it with you first-hand ;)

I have been playing with randoms lately and I am having a blast, whipping out my Grenade sentry against scorpions while the sentries do all the work. There is always that one spot left where the sentries and the Hive is vulnerable and that's the spot I guard including any alien attacks on sentries. This is actually fun when you are doing a Pistols only class. You don't have to worry about running around buying ammo or guns, Just level up your Sentry grenade to the max to get an insane 30 shots with incendiary rockets that will burn enemies after being hit. It's basically a one man army thing. Then how am I being a team player? Well armor is being supplied by other two I help the team with Random supplies. You can get lucky with a flare / Trophy or any level 4 support items like Armor. It is also very ***** $900.

But I am in agreement with costellos tips. Sentries are way to go. 2 people with armor is a must. One of the most important things about escaping is to setup sentries by choke points where seekers and meteors block the path with Rhinos chasing us. Set the sentries before hand and definitely drop an armor as soon as you reach there but don't use it unless you are being madly chased by Rhino. Keep dropping armors and leave the offense for your team. This almost always works. Having a Vulture handy is also not a bad idea.

I am currently Max prestige Rank 31. And I believe Ranking stops there.

Thanks Grill :)

Actually, I believe he's ETERNAL's friend, seeing as how all four of us did the Origins Side Quest together. :P

You can thank Kerednomrah69 and ob Blitz for pushing me towards the forum haha. Just havent been active at all for a while. Straight gaming. But im almost at the final prestige and want to try and get a game going with 4 ppl running all 5 relics. Just need 2 more ppl that are on late at night

Posted

Oh yea, forgot to mention. Its not for sure, but what ii evicerate (ob Blitz) and i have found that if you take out the scorpions without letting them hit the support chopper at all at the barrier hives, once it reaches about 50% health, it will just blow up then and there. Just a note. Maybe somone can help confirm?
