I'm from China, i used to offer some help during the discussion of Die Rise, since its set in China.
Call of Duty Zombies is now in Alpha Testing period, and is only available to some of the selected players.
I was able to play the game for a few times. Here are few of the info.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The map(zombies)available now is the remake of Nacht Der Untoten, which was renamed to 前哨站(Outpost).
- Zombies are remade, and as you know, to cyborgs. This is due to the restrction of Blood, violence content in China, Zombies spray blue liquid while hit or killed.
- Monkey bombs, Gersch Device, Ray Gun are featured.
- Characters talk, and there are subtitles.
- There is a "Unknown Voice" keep talking during the game, saying things like"You can not escape","Why against us?" etc.
- There is a round limit, depending on the difficulty players have choosen. The last round players will have to defend 5 minutes before the rescue heli arrive, and they will recieve air support.
- There is a power which have to be turned on. The perks available as a vending machine is Juggernog, Speed Cola and Double Tap Root Beer 1.(as for now).
- There is a setting for difficulty, by only varying the limit round.
- I CAN 99.9% SURE THAT THIS GAME HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH THE ZOMBIES STORYLINE.

This is it, im not sure if i can upload some gameplay to Youtube later, but i will keep you all updated(Maybe would be only in weekends due to some limitations and sometimes network problems that i cannot reach this website). Anyway, thank you all.

Awesome stuff Dragon.

I was hoping you would be able to shed some light on this game to the forum. Really good inside info here & thanks for the screenshots.

Thanks & take care.

Damn those Verruckt screenshots look scary sauce. It's great to see it with no orange filter.

So can the Ray Gun be dual wielded, being a pistol?

I'm looking at the perks, I can see Juggernog, Double Tap, Speed Cola, Stamin-Up, Deadshot and Mule Kick. Any idea what the 4th perk is in the 2nd last pic? I'd guess Quick Revive, but it doesn't match the colour scheme like the others did. But I love the icon changes. Pretty cool.

If you could, could you get images of what would be the courtyard, forest, and outside area in general? Also curious as to how Shi No Numa will turn out. How will they turn a swamp into a modern setting lol.

Figured I'd post my analysis of the game mode from the Frontpage article here for further discussion. :) Better than creating a whole new thread.

In early December 2013, Tencent Games announced the addition of a new cyborg-zombie mode to their Chinese-exclusive free-to-play game Call of Duty: Online. Translated unofficially as "Dead Rising," this mode caught the attention of many fans of the Call of Duty series, especially those who had invested many hours in Treyarch's original Zombies game mode. Unfortunately, the game mode was limited to a select few members of the CoD: Online's open beta, and although more were added in the game's closed beta, it was still negligible. Fortunately, I've had a chance to play the game mode for myself.

The first thing to note about "Dead Rising" is that its maps are simply reskins of Treyarch's Nacht der Untoten and Verruckt, which were the first two maps ever in the series. NDU is no longer a blasted bunker, however, being transformed into a destroyed warehouse in the underpass of a Chinese bridge. It now resembles Die Rise in terms of lighting, textures, and general look, having a much more futuristic theme than its night-time counterpart. Verruckt, on the other hand, has underwent a stranger transformation. Instead of being an asylum for the captive, it is now a laboratory specializing in cyborg designs. At least, before this whole outbreak began. Story wise, there isn't much here, besides an ominous, robotic voice taking over the cyborg-zombies randomly. When this occurs, the cyborgs stop what they're doing, change their eye colours to red, and become puppets for their controller to speak through. This voice states that the players aren't going to be able to defeat it, and that their efforts are futile. Other than that, there is no discernable story to be found. (All characters in this game speak English with Chinese subs. Please note that I do not speak Chinese, nor can I read it, so it is possible that I have missed some audio or written story elements.)

Gameplay-wise, there have been a few changes made that differentiate "Dead Rising" to its originator. Firstly, the game tops out at 11 rounds. Once you clear the final round, you and your teammates must rush to a spot on the map to evacuate via helicopter, similar to Infinity Ward's "Extinction" mode. This makes the game feel a tad bit rushed, but still enjoyable nonetheless. Secondly, characters have special traits that differentiate themselves from the others. Each character has two special perks that they earn upon completing the 3rd and 6th round. These two perks aren't normally found on either map, and are exclusive to the characters. For example, the Cowboy can earn Mule Kick, while the Gangster can earn Scavenger. In addition, players can buy the rest of the perks in the map, totaling at 6 perks for any given character. Also, each character has three special weapons that are also not available on the map. The player is spawned with these weapons from the get-go, and they can be replenished only through Max Ammos. Finally, in the new NDU, cyborg dogs and cyborg juggernauts start to spawn. The dogs behave similar to the Hellhounds in the Zombies game mode, and the Juggernauts use a minigun to damage the players. Sometimes, upon being killed, these Juggernauts will drop their weapon, allowing for a player to pick it up. (I did not encounter these enemies while playing on Verruckt. Whether they are in the map or not is still a mystery to me.)

Despite these gameplay and cosmetic changes, however, "Dead Rising" still operates fundamentally the same as their original counterparts. Perks behave the same, the cyborg-zombies act the same, they have the same health mechanics, etc. The changes in the game mode, while welcome and fun, aren't really noticeable nor needed. Yes, Stamin-up is a great perk, but it's not really needed on maps like NDU. Yeah, the Monkey Bomb is an awesome weapon to always have, but only limiting it to a certain player? Not really the best thing. Thus, at this point in time, "Dead Rising" is nothing more than China's answer to the popular game mode that we know and love. While it shows potential, it offers nothing truly new or exciting to series veterans. If you really want to play this, then you're better off playing the original maps, or better yet, your favourite maps. Watch a video, or a stream, or anything that relates to this game mode, and you'll notice that despite looking pretty, it's nothing truly invigorating to the well-seasoned zombie-slayer.

Slade I think you made a mistake, spoiler tab 1 and 3 are the same image. Thanks for posting though I'm really excited to see what they say!

Also thanks for that review Flammen, any chance you could compile a list of quotes?

Ok, I didn't know if I could ask for files here. If you have the time maybe one day write the ones you have heard just for the sake of knowing. I'm super jealous you get to play even though I'm not sure if it would be as fun as the normal zombies, it's still new and I've always wanted a night time Verruct

Great stuff, Dragon!

I found these Diary entries, Any chance you could translate these?

Sure I've got it done. And I've found that mistaken pic from the site and now it's good to go:

(Still studying in Senior school, sry for some mistakes! :-P )

Cowboy:

The smell of metal and petrol is in the air of every corner of this city. Since the people have hired cyborgs to help them with their works, clean the streets and shop for them and even put the cyborgs in the place of police to maintain order, people no longer work and was enjoying the convenience that technologies bring them. We, living as human, have lost everything on this world. We are becoming lazier and lazier, becoming useless. It wouldn't take much time before the cyborgs would replace us. But I still have hope. Some of the people are still bravely fighting for humanity, resisting our reliance to these cyborg creatures and are trying to disseminate their ideas on every walls of the city.

I am eager to answer them, but I have my doubts. How can I, alone, to challenge the cyborg civilization? I would need some partners, urgently. Tomorrow I will leave for the Hilly Plains, where my poor hometown is. I will have to travel through many cities full of cyborg freaks. But at least, only by this travel can I smell the long lost refreshing air and life. Still, I'm afraid that disaster would happen before I could arrive in my hometown. ????(Blocked by the revolver) will see.

Trigger:

My city was long gone and same to my family. I've lost everything! We were never ready for their attack, no solution to those damned things. They have destroyed lots of cities and killed countless people. We tried to fight back, but we failed! What those cyborg freaky don't know is that these are my streets, I understand everything here better than any of those CPUs. I would have my revenge on those "Metal creatures" even if I have to sacrifice myself. I once heard that there is a secret organization established to oppose those cyborg zombies.

A traveler I encountered told me that fighters of all industries gathered at a nearby old city. I doubted whether it's true, since the cyborgs have driven all people out of the cities. But even with that doubt, I have to head for the city, try to find those unknown soldiers. If there're still people can fight, then we still have a chance to change this war. Well, if it can still be called as a "War", under this circumstance where most of the people have been brutally killed.

USf3s9l.jpg

Sarge:

Three days ago, I lost my whole team. We were ambushed by a group of heavy cyborgs and we were completely vulnerable. Two of the teammates ran away before the battle and the last teammate was completely conquered by his fears and was unable to fight. Such rats! I fight on myself for a few days, resisting the attack from those heavy metal destroyers. Exhausted and hungry, I returned to the camp then my home lamely, to celebrate our victory. I don't want medals, I just want to live an ordinary life like before and don't have to eat those cold food and drink water that tastes like petrol.

This mission highlighted the weaknesses of my team. I must set up a new team against the cyborgs with new warriors who can fight alongside with me facing a fight that no one would survive. It is the only way we can win this war. I've heard glorious deeds of some great warriors. I must find them at all cost, the cyborgs most be defeated, there's no second choice.

lkltOTA.jpg

Lvbu:

Fear kills people, but not me. I will set off tomorrow, directly head into the "Crazy Place" - Where cyborgs are in full control of it, to seek Intel about the missing team. The other three soldiers will accompany me to finish the mission. Memories are still fresh, it was a week ago when I was sitting at the greeny Hilly Plains, contrary to the ruined cyborg zombies around me. Sharp noise broke the silence and I was ready to jump up and fight against more incoming cyborgs. There, no cyborgs, but a beauty with short blond. Her fearlessness deeply impressed me.

It is safe to tell that she have been through a hard fight. The girl, calling herself "Sarge", told me that she was coming to me to establish a team of the greatest fighters surviving. I accepted her invitation and followed her to a camp far away. There I met the other two. "Trigger" is a confident guy, he was travelling through cities that lay in ruins. "Cowboy" came from the west, bit annoying, likes Whisky, beef and, the wild. Though teamed up in a haste, every one of us is strong enough to fight against mountains of cyborgs. We have made our promise, that no matter how we will fight our way in this war, the only acceptable ending is overall victory.

Nice analysis Flammen, even I didn't get a chance for the beta or they call here Alpha Test lol

I agree because to most of the Zombie Veteran it is almost of no difficulty to play this game, but I believe we would just enjoy a new experience.

And btw, the limit round changes depending on what difficulty you've selected.

Ah, so THAT'S what those options on the bottom are for...haha I didn't know what they did on my account of knowing only English and some French. :P

Those journals are pretty cool! I knew that chic was going to be a bad arse, shame I'll probably never get the chance to play, youtube videos will be good enough lol

Although it's fun and "new", you aren't really missing out on much. :P

PS Cowboy is best because he starts out with Akimbo M9s. :D

I know :D so is the round maxed at 11 on the hardest difficulty? That alone makes it easier to accept I won't be playing it, I mean shotguns are a one hit kill until round 12 so I just see it being way too easy, maybe if I held the controller upside down....

Naw, I was mistaken. There are indeed difficulty levels that you can select. I just didn't know because they were in Chinese. The lowest difficulty caps out at 11, and the highest caps out at 16. I believe the one in-between ends at round 14, but I'm not entirely sure.
