Still Confused On Why Treyarch Would Do This.

This has been known since day one of Origins release. Sorry, but old news is old.

Why did Treyarch do it? Probably just as a nod to the campaign rather than a direct link.

More than likely it's because of the Ascension Easter Egg. People started linking the similarities of Ascensions steps to the Vorkuta steps.

Maybe just a throwback to that? Who knows.

Why is there a gun named "Reznov's Revenge" in Mob of the Dead?

Like PINNAZ was saying, several people thought the Mob of the Dead Side Quest steps were related to the Vorkuta escape steps. Treyarch probably got ahold of that and decided to implement it.

Constants and variables: What happens in one universe must contain a set amount of similarities (Constants) and differences (variables). 

 

For example in one universe a cat is blue, and in the other it's orange. In every universe there MUST be a cat, but the universe can define what color the cat is. 

 

Here, there must be the vorkuta steps, but how they're presented is different. 

 

Armed with this knowledge I want you to take a nice LONG look at the zombies storyline and the COD ghosts's extension storyline.

Yes, I think it has something to do with it. Due to the fact that the steps are the same as the prision break steps.

I thought the campaign team worked on Origins, the same campaign team that did the Black Ops 1 campaign. So maybe they just felt like throwing in a few points that would connect the campaigns and zombies? Who knows?

Like many have said above, it's not necessarily a "linking" or specific connection to the Vorkuta prison break in Black Ops 1, but really just an homage to that bit of zombies lore (meaning all the rumors and ideas that the vorkuta steps were related to the Ascension egg steps, and later on the MotD egg steps.)  Basically, the zombies community talked about and theorized about zombeis relating to Reznov and Vorkuta enough, that they decided to go ahead and tip their caps to the community by blatantly calling the Origins egg steps the same as the prison break steps

Now that I did not know. That's pretty cool. Reznov seems almost tied to the zombies story.. how strange.
