I sometimes use it. Even though I've probably read nearly every topic on here, I've come across some cool threads using the random topic. Though some topics are now obsolete or just rubbish & should probably be sent to the graveyard.

Do you pay for the feature?

yeah like PINNAZ said, there are some cool topics - but also just random garbage.

 

If it's taking up real estate, then we can remove it.

I use it, but it would be a LOT better, if certain topics such as "PS3 2 Players Needed" were removed from the button.

However, that would take FAR too long to implement.

I love it and use it every day, many, many times.

Only thing would be to try and remove the pages in places a normal member hasn't got permissions to view, as I've run into that error a few too many times.

Probably not. If we can just exclude the teammate finder forum in its entirety for the search query. @Hells Warrrior this possible?

I kinda do. I think a lot of people do though and thats why you see so many topics from years ago revived. However that's not necessarily a good thing in some cases. Sometimes a thread should just stay dead.

Nope, not considering removing it, just wondering if it is used the often.

 

@GRILL mentioned real estate and it was partly based on that, in fact it was based all on that. If more menu options are added then we could use the space, it just meant relocating it to a different position and I was just curious if it was used. I've used it myself to read old topics but not bring them back to life, it's a useful feature and brings a benefit.

I really think it would be a terrible idea to have it moved. It is absolutely perfect where it is, and if I were to find a topic I had no interest in reading I can simply click there again, without having to navigate into a drop down menu and then click it again.

Ahh don't worry about that, it would still be prominent, just thinking out aloud - maybe moving random topic and the search function to the top beside the user profile information drop for PM's and notifcations but just as they are.

my problem is if someone comments on a really old and essentially bad post it would reignite an unneeded discussion on it.

If you can or just did make it so the random topics weren't anything off topic or teammate finder related threads then it would actually be pretty handy. I've gambled with it once and I think I came across 1 or 2 actual zombie threads after about a dozen tries. I typically just browse through the "New Content" option 99% of the time.

All threads in Teammate Finder are already excluded, (bro, do you even read?) @Hells Warrrior let's do the same for off-topic.

Honestly I feel this feature is more good than bad, as newer members to the forums constantly use it and revive dead posts back from what is sure to be oblivion.

Never used it until today, kinda cool. Definitely need to make it so that forums the average user can't access aren't part of the results. Got the error 4 times in a row.
