So Black Ops III Beta is out tomorrow on PS, for those lucky PS. For those lucky PS players able to play the beta, it would be good to get some initial thoughts and feedback from the game.

The Beta is scheduled to have 3 maps and 7 modes, so plenty to do and plenty to investigate.

I would like to create a news article and a newsletter to be sent to all members, so screenshots, guides etc. would be ideal to use within the newsletter. If you think you can help, please post below and please also put reviews etc. below as well.

Have fun, happy camping and look out behind you

EB didn't even give a beta code on my receipt when I pre-ordered. I didn't think much of it until I got an email saying the beta code would be on the receipt (I assumed it would just be emailed like most beta stuff). I did buy other games, and that's the only reason I can think of for them somehow forgetting. I dunno. Little disappointed, but I don't have a PS4 yet anyway, so I was going to give it to a mate who pre-ordered on Xbox One, give him an extra week of beta I suppose.

Whoever enters the beta, lets us know how the weapons feel and the specialist abilities. Some of those will be in Zombies I imagine.

I hope the only way those appear in zombies is in the form of powerups.

I think they said Aug 26th for PC and Xbox. Not positive.

Just checking out some of the gameplay videos of it that are out today, it does seem a little better than AW. Its slower than AW, which is good, and still has some interesting mobility moves but they seem like they aren't required. I still hate the future themes of these games. Not sure why but they make me miss the older games. But this one seems like a step up at first glance.

Yeah the futuristic idea is dead imo, I think they missed a trick with not going back in time to WaW era or even earlier. However, I'm not a multi-player player any more and it doesn't interest me in the slightest.

I think Treyarch may have been too far into development, before people really started asking for another World War 2 game.

To compete with other games, they needed to either be in the future or do some Alternate reality stuff which allowed for more technology existing in the past to make things interesting. As much as people want WW2, its better to be in the future for at least this game, I am not saying the future can't be WW2.

Thanks Cheesegrater. Anyways I agree with the majority of you guys. I hated Advanced Warfare Multiplayer, but the Zombies story was definitely killer. I do miss WaW multiplayer along with the MW series. Black Ops 2 was okay. Although it is no longer "all about the multiplayer" with me like it use to. Zombies now dominates my call of duty career. Multiplayer is an okay now and again thing and this Beta thing will just be a new experience for me which I would like to try.

I disagree. It's clear that quite a lot of people are becoming fed up with futuristic warfare, and want a back-to-basics World War II shooter on next-gen systems.

No I am not saying the genre is liked, what I mean is for gameplay purposes it is better. I hate futuristic stuff, except BO3 has an interesting concept so I like it.

I'd prefer a simpler gameplay that WWII could offer. The weapons, killstreaks and gadgets of later Call of Duty games are good, but I always loved how simple and fun WaW was. I'd take getting owned by good players using annoying tanks over annoying killsteaks any day. Dogs and mortar could at least be avoided. I haven't bought a CoD since BO2 since zombies is all I care about. MP just got less and less fun. But if Infinity Ward or Sledgehammer did go back to WWII, I'd consider shelling out the money for MP. Would love nothing more then to go back to that setting when the maps seemed better. MP maps for the last 4 CoDs are pretty much interchangeable and forgetful.

But I know what you mean about futuristic gameplay. Its probably more appealing and profitable for the developers. Most people seem to need all those killstreaks and gadgets that future tech can supply and WWII can't unless it was like an Origins type world. I don't want that stuff but I feel like myself and a lot of us older players are in the minority nowadays.

I think now that CoD has 3 companies making the game, they need to start diversifying them a little more. So an older setting seems needed. Break up the exo suits and special abilities. Make each CoD unique.

I haven't gotten to play it yet but just in case anyone cares, the download size of the Beta 12.34 GB for PS4. Plus an update file that seemed fairly small, so only an extra couple hundred MB's at best.

Damn. These 500GB systems we all just bought aren't gonna last very long with the size of all these updates & DLCs. I understand that there's a lot more detail in every Mao/mode. Just seems they should've made a 1TB system to begin with.

The skimped on the system specs on both consoles and they knew a 500GB (actually 350GB due to reserved storage) was dispicable from companies. They knoew we'll either invest in the 1TB system or use external storage but they skimped on specs when they could and should have gone higher than what they did.

You can simply change the hardrive to bigger one instead of buying new console with bigger storage. At least on PS4.

You could on the "slim" 360 also, don't know if that's the case on XB1.

you can get external 1TB hard drives for $40 if you look in the right places, so i think that is a cheaper and easier option for most people

Eh I got a 2 TB external from college but to reformat it i would need to dump about 1000 hours of (now useless) school work and 75 ish papers lol. Don't wanna get rid of it for some reason even though I'm done with school.

That's why I take advantage of the save data cloud feature. It doesn't take long for games to download on my PS4 so if I'm not playing it I just delete the game data and keep the save data in the cloud. Leaves me tons of space on the hard drive.

But back to the topic at hand, I got to play it for a few hours this morning and enjoyed it so far. The new specialist classes are a nice change of pace and so far there is a decent variety in every match, none are op as of yet. The thrust jumps and wall running and swimming and everything have all been incorporated very smoothly. It's not super twitchy like AW and mainly serve as a means to widen your mobility. Gunplay definitely has a BO feel to it, time to kill is short but not as short as previous games and so far there hasn't been any noticeably op weapons. And even though some of the features are currently locked, the customization is pretty extensive. The token unlock system from BO2 also makes a return, so I do suggest finding a specialist you like early so you're not blowing all your tokens on that.

On a side note, so so happy Demolition is back.

Well here are my thoughts about playing a while.

The game is mess outside of SnD. Treyarch went with MW2ish approach with the streaks. It's Killstreaks vs Killstreaks. The game is very fast paced and I'm more fan of slower pace Cods like the original Black Ops.

The guns have very little recoil and Treyarch brought back some annoying optics like thermal scope. Perks seem well balanced as well as equipments.

After playing so much Destiny the special abilities are fine for me but still feel kind of out of the place in Cod. The new movement system is great and it's used more to moving around than in fighting.

The game looks visually nice but the map desing is focused on small and narrow maps and I'd like more open maps. Addition of lag-o-meter and paintjobs are nice.

I have now played like 4 rounds of mp and I gotta say it is some good crazy fun.

From what I can tell the maps are okay, definitely a step up from the last two games, but still not on Crash/Strike level.

The pointstreak rewards don't seem to be too powerful at least from what I have played, but there is constantly something up in the air.

The ARK, the only primary gun I have used so far, looks and sounds nice and packs a punch.

The whole game sounds and looks nice I mean it is not the best looking game out their, but definitely doesn't have to hide.

The spawns are silly, as always in a cod game. :P

The pace is a tad bit too fast but damn near perfect in my opinion.

I have hated Killstreak rewards ever since MW2, so if they would get rid of it, I would probably spend a lot of time in this mp.

It is a good effort, Treyarch and I am curious to see what you will do post launch, but I will use BO III for zombies and maybe the occasional mp round. If I still had time during the week though I would try to balance it out. That is how much fun I had in those few games. :)

Now I gotta take a break for my PS4 before it begins to melt cause this dl took like 13 hours in total. Ö_Ö
