Theres the article from Charlie Intel. If you can't click it I will quote the actual announcment:

"The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.

Delivering the best possible gameplay experience on all platforms is always our highest priority. With that in mind, Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 players can continue to look forward to a new experience of Black Ops 3 multiplayer, including the new momentum-based, chain-movement system, as well as the all-new Specialist class of 9 Black Ops soldiers, which fundamentally change the way players engage in combat.

Black Ops 3 players on PS3 and Xbox 360 will also have a chance to immerse themselves in the all-new Zombies mode, called “Shadows of Evil,” which features a 1940’s film-noir inspired adventure that takes the signature Black Ops Zombies gameplay to a new level."

Some people might not be bothered about the campaign but the Giant is going to bother people since its only a map. I guess they are trying to really push next gen this year.

Hm... Looking forward to the campaign even more now. haha

Feel sorry for everyone who doesn't have a fancy current gen console though.

Edit: It will also include a copy of Blops 1 and it will be cheaper, @Nightmare Voyager .

Ah thanks for that. That doesn't really help them though XD I would imagine people already have it so its pretty much a waste to get in on last gen now, they might as well just get it on next gen. They are selling Black Ops with the Black Ops 3 MP and a zombie map. That is so lazy! Last gen was such a bad idea.

Gotta get all the money.

I wonder why the Giant isn't included, but SoE is.

To me it seems that SoE is the bigger map of those two. (Based on the fact that the Giant is a pre order bonus.)

I also wonder how dlc is going to play out on last gen. Or if there even will be any.

Considering they can't even fit Nuk3town or the Giant, they either have no room for DLC or can only add the zombie and MP maps and nothing more.

HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH that's hilarious. Also why would anyone need a download code for black ops 1? If you are playing black ops 3 it means you already own the first game and most if not all of the DLC already. that deal is ass

The only thing that bothers me in this announcement is that Shadows of Evil will also be on last gen, meaning the map may not be as big or ambitious as I had hoped for if it is capable of running on last gen. Maybe it will just be a dumbed down survival map based on SoE with the characters, voices etc but not the same map.I hope so anyway.

Aside from that, I personally think that this reeks of a desperate cash grab by ATVI and really they should have just left it at Advanced Warfare. No annual CoD on previous gen may actually have helped shift people over to next (or current if you are "that guy") gen quicker.

I think honestly Shadows of Evil is part of the reason there is no campaign. I don't think they wanted to compromise it, so they took out the Campaign so they could work with all that new room so it's not dumbed down.

And it does suck that they won't get The Giant, but that's DLC and so is Nuk3town. So, chances are they won't be getting DLC. Which means DLC maps won't be hindered by last gen if that's the case.

Look on the bright side:

We're one step closer to getting that Zombies-only full game now.

Also notice how they call the Zombies-mode as a whole Shadows of Evil. Wouldn't be surprised at all if last-gen versions only get MP maps as DLC.

I think ATV made the decision last minute to put this on last gen consoles, not knowing of how many issues could occur with that, and its gone this far and they've either thought we'll remove the campaign or bin the project completely, and they've obviously gone for the no campaign so they get some money, but the fact that they've said much about DLC other than no nuketown or giant makes me think they wont get DLC, and players will just get a dumbed down base game

Most of my 360/PS3 friends weren't going to get this anyways, but the few ones that did pretty much canceled that plan. I feel bad for the 360/PS3 players, but honestly I think it's a sacrifice that has to be made so COD, as well as next-gen, can move on. Old consoles just can't support new games anymore.

It sucks for the people who haven't been able to afford a new console yet but I'll take it as a sign that BO3 is truly beginning to push past all the previous cods. This is exactly what it needs if they don't want to be releasing what people describe as the same game every year. Multiplayer is undergoing some much needed upgrades and zombies looks to be bigger than ever. The PS4 and Xbone will be 2 years old in just over a month, shortly after when BO3 releases. It's about time games start surpassing the limit of last gen.

People who are that desperate have had a long time to save up for consoles. I know people who have barely gotten enough money but just recently managed it.

Yeah I had a couple friends just recently buy a PS4 mainly for this game. I know they're expensive but if you really wanted one it's been a fairly long time to save up.

Exactly, as well I understand it is impossible for some people I get it. But is it fair people bought next gen and don't get a game that requires it? Not really this will be the first game on next gen that I own and think that I haven't wasted money on now. That said it is of course a shame last gen can't play it. I would say trade in your old consoles if you want to play so badly but not even I am going to do that yet (not until backwards compatibility on xbox) and even then the memories my console have might change my mind.

There is no way on earth that DLC will not be available on previous gen consoles, do you really think ATV would forego that additional income stream? Please do not be so naive.

To be fair, you can't even pre-order the Season Pass for last-gen. Why not announce it with the PS4/One versions? So I think it's okay to suspect that their may be no DLC.

They've already stated that DLC content may vary on last-gen consoles.
My best guess is that they don't even know yet at this stage if they can bring all the DLC to last-gen. So it's safer to not announce a season pass rather than to announce one and then later having to drop it and offer refunds because some of the content you promised consumers couldn't be ported, see AC: Unity.

Same thing happened with EA's Dragon Age Inquisition; first DLC made it to last-gen versions, then the other two - which were way more ambitious in scope - didn't.

I agree with that Slade. Its surprising that they only just announced this happening so it was obviously a case of whoever is porting it being like "this can't work" and then they will say the same about DLC. Could people preorder the game before this anyways on last gen? If so this is pretty much a rip off for them.

Pretty sure they could, and did. Hence why a few people may want to cancel said preorders. While the Campaign being removed is not a huge deal breaker, you still lose the intrinsic value of the game (believe me, I wouldn't pay $60 for a missing mode even if I don't play it after one run-through).

They learned last time what happens when you claim a promise but end up going back on it, hurting your credibility (I'm looking at you, Nuketown).

Campaign is a big deal breaker. As much as people rant and rave about things like MP and Zombies, campaign is the heart of any COD game.

They're a good way to introduce all the new mechanics for the game, it provides a different experience than the other two game modes, and I generally just have enjoyed some of them, especially the Black Op's storyline.
