What are your inferences of the Iron Dragon?

I had been theorizing a castle map for literally years yet now that its being shown to me, I don't actually know what to say about its contents. So far my ideas are as follows:

1863daf399fac4a11470c31868480164.jpg

Der Eisendrachen, as a name, is a call back to Der Riese. Not only is it a German translation of the title due to its location but it is also a reference to Der Riese. The Iron Dragon, as a name, has mythological connections due to the mention of a dragon. This can be the same for Der Riese which translates to the Giant. This could be seen as both a call back to the previous map and as a sign of bringing back the mysticism of a name such as Der Riese. I once tried to do the same thing and came up with a map idea named Der Phonix, which was purely based off of trying to relate back to the mythological creatures.

The setting as a castle is very obviously some sort of German occupied stronghold. What happenings were going on here and what its relevance is are unknown at this time. But judging by the setting and the map name of the Iron Dragon, I believe that their is a monstrous dragon being that lives within these mountains and is attacking the castle. On the left a large cannon can be seen facing upwards, along with floodlights pointed upwards too. This could just be for enemies, but such a big gun and such an intriguing name just scream a Dragon Attack. I also do not know what that rocket is. It truly is a mystery to me, but I assume it will be an easter egg step to launch or destroy it.

The last thing I can infer anything from is one of the ciphers in the Giant: "The Mountain Must Be Searched For The Frozen One" which is the main goal of the EE in my opinion. Although who that is and what purpose they have beats me.

Tell me what you guys think though. Obviously we have the hard facts like what the castles name actually is that I can't remember but I just mean stuff you have inferred from just viewing this picture alone.

I hope it's shuster or groph! Loved those guys on moon, and haven't heard from them sense!

I think the "Iron dragon" would most likely be linked to a fire-breathing flying contraption like a helicopter. OR... The die glocke.

Or a big mechanical dragon, like the big giant robots. I don't know why it would be a helicopter, thats kind of a weird guess XD

If there is a dragon, I would imagine it to be a mechanical one given that it's called The Iron Dragon. I would love to see a dragon in a zombies map for an epic boss fight, but Die Rise crushed that hope for me. If they did finally include one though then I would love to see it as a massive beast that has an insane amount of health but doesn't actually come back after killing it, and instead grants access to the WW somehow or something like that. Judging by the picture the map looks to be fairly huge so I think it could certainly support the inclusion of one.

But since I'm skeptical about their being one at all I would postulate that it's actually some sort of ancient machine or weapon buried deep within the castle that we discover/go looking for. That or it's the name of that rocket hidden in the back there. It sounds like the name of a weapon to me, like some kind of war machine.

When my friend first told me about "Der Eisendrachen," I thought it meant the "iron kite" (in German "der Drachen" can refer to a kite). Needless to say, I was a little confused. Haha.

Anyways, I postulate that maybe Die Festung Hohenwerfen (the Austrian fortress where this map appears to be located), may have some connection to Group 935. Perhaps it was a place to securely research the making of wonder weapons. The reason I say this is because Der Riese was a facility which built wonder weapons with the name of another mythical creature (The Giant). I wouldn't be surprised if a new 1940's-esque wonder weapon comes into play (or even the reintroduction of the Wunderwaffe DG-2). Maybe "Der Eisendrachen" refers to this new weapon (it could be a gun, vehicle, or maybe even a cannon or bomb of sorts).

I REALLY hope the WWdg2 isnt the ww of this map... So lazy...

As a fan of the story, I would LOVE to see the DG-2 come back too many wonder weapons and you end up like Advanced Warfare.

I would want it back but I would want a new WW too and for them to patch it, it is so bad in BO3 that it isnt a weapon I take from the box anymore. Even though I was so excited about its return.

How would you end up like AW?

If we have to see the return of a WW, I'd like to see the shrink-gun, or the wave gun. Not the DG2 which we already know to be buggy in this game...

Unless they fix it which their is a large chance of. I think those WW's are more map specific so I don't think they will come back.

Anyways whats wrong with AW's WW? I liked the CEL-3, Limbo and KLO3-Trident

I hope there's no dragon, mechincal or not. Just sounds too unrealistic and in my opinion stretching the game's lore too far.

I believe the Iron Dragon is just referring to the castle itself. "Iron" for it's size/strength, and "Dragon" for it's range capabilities, hence the cannon.

I have heard that it can be translated to Iron Kite too, which can make sense. As I believe that the "Iron Dragon" or "Iron Kite" is referring to the Rocket shown in the promo picture.

Rocket = Iron Dragon / Iron Kite

@Pinnaz Since this translation could also mean "Iron Kite" and I noticed a map for MP involving a moving ship with the actual map on the ship, is it at all possible to hypothesize that this map or maybe it's easter egg will take this castle into the clouds? Oh, I'd have an actual reason to listen to Iron Maiden's Empire in the Clouds again without being completely disappointed.

Or you end up like BO1 :)

We have so many wonder weapons at this point, adding more begins to become redundant. I really appreciate what they did with the Annihilator. High-caliber incindiary. Pretty simple to explain. More of that, sure. Less elemental, magical and space age. Maybe one more. But the more wonder weapons you create, the less wonderous they become. Besides, back in the day, some WW transferred across maps. That would be cool.

I would love a robotic dragon, I have this weird thing where I not only love science fiction but I really love vague magic stuff that can't really be explained, maybe because I like not comprehending something and it makes a game seem bigger. Anyways I like BO1 for its variety of WWs. They are all fun but I would like to keep say the Shrinkray and the Wave/Zap Guns for another map (That second one can come back in the remake that I am sure will happen). I also really like the idea of having all of these unique Wunder Weapons again, although what I would really like is either an actual scientifically based gun, a mystically ambiguous weapon or a mix of the two. Elemental though? I only want a fire gun to explain the fire staff, although that could appear in this map.

Anyways I really like that idea @DrVonstool just came up with, solely for the reason that days before SoE came out I started working on a large scale city map named Forge (that you can find in Zombie Labs) which really has some parallels to what we get in map, even when I finally posted it on the 30th of October. After that map I started working on two maps: Cloud IX and Engines of Chaos, one takes place on a casino on an ark in the clouds while the other is a castle constantly changing layout. I started working on the castle one literally the night before this was announced, so I was utterly astounded I had gotten one of my dream maps. But I also promised I wouldn't place this DLC ever unless it achieved my dream of being a map floating in the clouds. So if this really was a part of the Easter Egg, I would fully declare myself as Oracle of all of Call of Duty Zombies.

Thanks everyone for the input on stuff and thanks @Stop Mocking Me0, FMA is my favourite Anime and second favourite Manga.

I disagree with you a little more and more each day Nabs..... Wonder weapons should never repeat without a new wonder equipment to accompany it... Each one is unique.

What i'd really like to see, and hasn't been done before, is basically that rail-gun from that one mission in the campaign where you have to protect dr. salem and the base. It basically fires explosive bolts through multiple enemies, then can be detonated remotely, not on a timer.

Which reminds me: Why do we not have proper C4 in zombies yet? I feel that could be so much more useful then claymores.

It's my 3rd favorite anime cool! @Nightmare Voyager

That railgun thing was awesome, that or something like it in zombies would be pretty insane. You are right about C4 too, I have always wanted it in zombies because it seems like it would work so well.

Considering how I always wanted a tomahawk in zombies but wasn't sure how they could incorporate it in and they then proceeded to do so in a way that is now one of my favorite zombie weapons ever, I would love to see what they could do with C4. I imagine it as being similar to Matryshka dolls (I doubt I spelled that right) but obviously with the ability to manually detonate it.

I'm willing to sacrifice a great deal of power and convenience for relative believability. I.E., I am not a fan of the SoE swords, that ridiculous Apothicon Servant, the blunder/acid gat, the elemental staffs (except that they are Vril, the only mythology I appreciate in this story, and do have some supporting pseudoscience), most of the gumballs and hope we don't get any more-and if we do, no more than 1 per map pack.

And instead of introducing new wonder weapons with each DLC, provide three cool, unique upgrade attachments for the the WW of the game, (DG-2 for BO3), one of which would be acquired by 2nd PaP.

At a stretch, maybe bring back another small, applicable classic, depending on where the map was located and what the timeframe was. For DLC 4, however, I would bring in a new wonder weapon that could act as a sneak peak at what may come with the next game. I want to become attached to a WW. Buff the DG-2 a bit and gimme some stuff to work with. The good ol' weapon will become timeless again.

While we're talking weapons, I'd bring back period weapons and imaginative variations, fewer futuristic attachments and more like stock, foregrip, QuickDraw, rapidfire, even a laser attachment, or basic acog. Upgraded ammo types would be thunder wall, blast furnace, a impact grenade launcher attachment, and (picture this!) a bayonet attachment of thunder punch caliber, tracers-basically FMJ+ with a laser effect, somewhat accurate to the period (not the higher impact part, I know).

BTW, I'm known as Hunter. NaBrs is improper. ? Otherwise, the whole name is pronounced nah-bur-zun-ter.

I for one, find all those weapons to be relatively believable. The staves have focused crystals on the inside that power them, oddly enough this isn't the strangest kind of artifact we've seen throughout the games.

For those who've seen "The Librarian" You'll love the floating sword that fights beside you.

The blundergat was the most believable wonder weapon ever. It was just a really powerful shotgun. Where as the acid gat was also quite believable when you put into context that there's a grand evil controlling the world that makes the rules.

Now, I'm not say we should never see some of these weapons again, after all, I'd kill to see the wave-gun again. But we JUST saw the wonder waffe. The best thing to do, IMO, would be to do what COTD did again, multiple wonder weapons, one of which is an older returning one unlocked via easter egg.

Then I will call you the NABBER! (Similar to how they call the witch-hunter the witcher)
