Infinity Ward is developing Call of Duty 2016

It’s official: Activision has confirmed during their Fourth Quarter Results Conference Call that Infinity Ward is developing this year’s new Call of Duty title.

Activision switched Call of Duty to a three year development cycle back in 2014; both Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch have released their first three year developed title, and this year, it is Infinity Ward’s turn. Infinity Ward’s last title was Call of Duty: Ghosts, which was the first Call of Duty on next-gen platforms.

I'm hoping for MW4 :75:

So what does that mean for Treyarch? Next release in 2018?

IW in 2016 SHG in 2017 and Treyarch in 2018.

If CoD is still a thing until then. ;)

Hopin that IW finds a way to make a good game after so many years, but I doubt it.

I'm hoping they have grenades and killstreaks this time. Ghosts had one grenade that might actually kill occasionally, so they nerfed it like 5 times until it was completely useless. No scavenging, and only the Loki had any effect as far as killstreaks go.

The perk system was one of the best yet, but needed tweeks. It's a real shame to see the subpar 'pick 10' crap return.

Ghosts maps were tits. Best since mw2.

Then Advanced Wallbreach and BO3 put out large maps too, so I'm hoping that trend continues.

I'm really hoping that they make another outdoor Extinction like PoC. I dislike indoor, box-like maps and snow maps. What's wrong with pleasant maps? We've got enough dingy, dirty arenas in cod, let's have some more Liberty, or Estate, and PoC style for mp and Extinction.

And please don't Treyarch Extinction! :)

I'm surprised activision havn't caught wind that infinity ward is a one trick pony. After MW2, MW3 and Ghost both SUCKED SO hard.... Advanced warfare had the excuse it was trying to be innovative, and in their defence, a lot of features from it have been upgraded in BO3....

I'm hoping for something different this year. Not a Ghosts or Modern Warfare sequel, but something in a time period that hasn't been explored that much, or at least hasn't been in a while. So I would like to see a WW2 or Cold War title, something along those lines.

This probably won't happen, but at the very least I hope advanced movements won't be a part of the game.

It has already been confirmed that their game will be a new and innovative title so that to me rules out MW4 & Ghosts 2. People who claim to be in the know also say it will be neither. Besides, after the poor reaction towards MW3 & Ghosts I highly doubt they would go back down that route.

I can see it now:

Call of Duty: IDEK warfare.

Players will be thrilled to know that the game will not contain a last chance, second chance, final chance, or rejack perk. However, the specialist "Obertron" will have an equipable Second-to-last-final-rejack perk that allows him to use his secondary when down and revive himself shortly after.

Players will also enjoy the return of the riot sheild, OP automatic assault rifles, and skill-based matchmaking.

Hopefully. I'm excited to see what they've been making over these last three years. I heard they got new people working there, one of which used to work at Naughty Dog. Fingers crossed we get something truly new and innovative this year.

I feel like you guys are way too hopeful of what they have. Nothing indicates yet what the game will be like, they are only using the same words they describe every new CoD with. I don't want it to be a letdown, but from their track record... if they can just go back to the position they were in with MW and MW2, then I will feel a lot happier, but I am worried they will do something completely stupid like Ghosts again. In fact, I will be disappointed if they don't do a story detailing how Ghost (the character) his story was before MW2 and then how he survived the ending, because I was so sure of that and wanted Ghosts to be about him setting up an underground group that took out whoever. But after a CoD named "Ghosts", that had nothing to do with the character, I don't think that is going to happen. Which is a shame, that's my dream Call of Duty.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Price to Pay (Story of Price, perhaps a prequel). I loved the MW story more than anything until Black Ops but both stories are incredible. Price was awesome, and maybe we can get an intro to Ghost in there.
