Kino der Toten, the Cinema of the Dead. An all time favorite of many zombie slayers on this forum. It is out for 7 years now, yet the map holds so many secrets. Take the Powerup Easter Egg found a year ago, for example. Kino der Toten is a map full of mysteries, of which most probably stay answered. But we should not only take the interactive parts of a map as Easter eggs. Easter Eggs could also be hidden in textures. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what we look at today. I don't want to give you high hopes, I have not found anything new. Its just some speculation of some posters found in Kino. A secret story hidden within the THEATRE OF THE DAMNED!!!

Doctor Ludwig Maxis

You probably recognize this poster, it hangs all over the place in Kino: Pygmalion. The text on the right of it says the following:

"Er schuf eine frau, aber er gab ihr einen freien willen."

In English:
"He created a woman, but he gave her a free will."

Obviously, this is where the story of Pygmalion is about. In Ancient Greek tales, Pygmalion is about an artist who fell in love with one of his sculptures, which then came to life. In modern times, it is about a professor who makes a bet that he can train a bedraggled Cockney flower girl to pass for a duchess at an ambassador's garden party by teaching her to assume a veneer of gentility, the most important element of which, he believes, is impeccable speech.

How is Pygmalion reflected in the Zombie story? Think about the radios found in Kino and the Kino part in Revelations. The story about patient two-six, who bit Sophia, and forced dr. Maxis to put her soul in a machine, named S.O.P.H.I.A.

This story is not exactly the same as the story of Pygmalion, but we can see the similarities.

Doctor Edward Richthofen

Another poster found in Kino der Toten: Faust. The tale of Faust is about a scientist hunkering to inhuman powers and abilities. He calls up the demon Mesophiles and makes a contract with Lucifer: 24 years of extraordinary power in exchange for his soul. Once Faust has signed the contract with his own blood, his amazing life begins. He becomes a scientist who invents impossible devices, and a magican who can do impossible things. But after 24 years, the Devil returns to him. Faust begs him to not take him away, but Lucifer has no mercy and takes him to Hell.

How does Faust reflect in the Zombie story? During Shi No Numa, Der Riese and Kino der Toten, Richthofen regular speaks of the Illuminati, his "masters".

If you haven't yet, I recommend reading this theory

The conclusion in this theory is that the Illuminati are Apothican. It does not matter if that's true or not, Richthofen did had contact with as well the Illuminati as the Apothicans. Two demonic factions. Just as Faust had a contract with the Devil. Perhaps the Illuminati and/or Apothicans were behind Richthofen's science (MTD, DG-2, Monkey bombs, Aetherial studies) and success. They could have proved him ultimate power (in the MPD), eventually leading to Richthofen being a slave of the Apothicans and opening that universe for them to consume (after Buried).
